The 1st year Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art & Design students will be displaying some of their artwork in the former Hippopotandmouse shop unit in The Shires Shopping Centre from June 10 to June 17 as part of Trowbridge In Bloom competition.
The shop is open to the public on Thursday June 13th and Saturday June 15th with tutors and students talking about the artwork.
The independent projects which will be entered into the Community Projects category both for the Trowbridge and South West in Bloom competition.
The ‘Natural World’ project involves the students selecting an area of speciality, such as fine art, textiles, fashion or visual communication and creating a detailed research and development sketchbook in addition to producing a finished piece.
Helen Chivers, who is the fashion and textiles lecturer at Wiltshire College, said: “The live project with Trowbridge in Bloom has been a wonderful opportunity, encouraging the students to challenge their creativity and practise their professionalism. Knowing that the outcomes will be on public view has heightened the students’ appreciation of quality both in terms of ideas and finish and it has added enormously to their real world experience.”
